授業内容と方法
|
This course is for students who are internationally-minded and who take interest in global issues, especially in tackling problems from the perspective of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The course is designed to bring international students and Japanese students together from all majors at the university, particularly first- and second-year students.
The course builds on content of Seminar on Global Engagement I, reviewing the SDGs by first exploring: what are they, and why are they important (how are they relevant to me)? Students will create 3 video projects for this course.
1) The first video is a self-introduction. The purpose is the introduce yourself to your classmates and learn basic video editing skills.
2) The second one is to make a report on a local event in pairs. For example, you can make a news report on a university club, or activity (with permission, of course).
3) The final project is a team project, in which groups of four investigate an SDG at the local level and make a video report about it. The film project should contain three elements. First, it should describe what the SDG is why the SDG is important. Then it should focus on at least 2 targets of the SDG, describing what they are and how to achieve them. Finally, the film should contain some original research, for example interviews, survey results, or a video rapportage related to your SDG. The students will be assessed on their delivery and contents of their film.

本講義は、グローバル問題や国際的に解決すべき問題、とりわけ国際連盟の「持続可能開発目標」いわゆるSDGsについて関心がある学生のための授業です。受講生は半分留学生、半分日本人学生で構成されています。学部の専攻に関係なく一年生、二年生を対象にしています。
授業内容として、三つのビデオ・プロジェクトが中心です。
1) 最初のビデオは自己紹介。目的は二つ：クラスメート同士について知ることと、ビデオ撮影、編集の基本操作を学ぶことです。
2) 次のビデオプロジェクトはペアで一つのイベントまた活動を取材するものです。例えば、あるクラブの活動、研究室、学生生活にまつわるものです。（勿論、撮影・取材許可は必要です。）
3) 三番目のビデオは4人のチームで、留学生と日本人学生を混ぜた班に分かれ、一つのSDGを取り上げ、ビデオ・プロジェクトに取り組みます。ビデオ内容として次の要素を含めます：１）取り上げるSDGとは？その重要性とは？について基礎的な説明、２）SDGのターゲット最低二つを紹介し、その内容と進捗状況を説明、３）SDGに関係するオリジナルな研究（例えば、インタービュー、世論調査、ラポルタージュ等）を紹介説明します。評価はビデオ内容について総合的に行います。

与えられた課題に対し、プレゼンテーションを行う側は個人あるいはグループでリサーチ、プレゼンテーション等の準備を行う。
聞く側もプレゼンテーションの内容について事前にリサーチし自分の意見をまとめておく。（各1時間程度）

Consider the issues raised in in-class discussions and manner of resolving them. (About 1 hour per week)
Students should reflect on their performance and ask, what can I do in order to improve next time? This activity is central to learning. Also, once given a task, students must self-direct themselves, effectively managing their time, in order to complete the task on time.

Students who take this course should be open-minded and ready to challenge their own beliefs and skills. Because there are requirements for research, writing and presenting in English, students at a B1 level of CEFR are most suited for this course.
