授業内容と方法
|
This course is for students who are internationally-minded and who take interest in global issues, especially in tackling problems from the perspective of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The course is designed to bring international students and Japanese students together from all majors at the university, particularly first- and second-year students.
The course focuses on the United Nations SDGs by first exploring: what are they, and why are they important (how are they relevant to me)? Once students have a general understanding of the SDGs, students will be put into groups of mixed nationalities. The groups will research one SDG and make a presentation. The presentation should contain four elements. First, it should describe what the SDG is why the SDG is important. Then it should focus on at least 2 targets of the SDG, describing what they are and how to achieve them. The poster should also introduce 2 news media reports related to the SDG targets. Finally, the poster should contain some original research, for example interviews, survey results, or a rapportage related to your SDG. The students will be assessed on their presentation delivery and contents of their poster.
本講義は、グローバル問題や国際的に解決すべき問題、とりわけ国際連盟の「持続可能開発目標」いわゆるSDGsについて関心がある学生のための授業です。受講生は半分留学生、半分日本人学生で構成されています。学部の専攻に関係なく一年生、二年生を対象にしています。
授業内容として、まず、SDGsとは何？具体的な目標やそのターゲットに注目し、学生の基礎的知識とともに自らとの関係について考えます。次に、留学生と日本人学生を混ぜた班に分かれ、一つのSDGを取り上げ、グループ・プレゼンテーションを行います。プレゼン内容として次の要素を含めます：１）取り上げるSDGとは？その重要性とは？について基礎的な説明、２）SDGのターゲット最低二つを紹介し、その内容と進捗状況を説明、３）SDG関連のニュース・メディアレポート２つを紹介説明、４）SDGに関係するオリジナルな研究（例えば、インタービュー、世論調査、ラポルタージュ等）を紹介説明します。評価はプレゼン内容やプレゼンスキル総合的に行います。

Students must prepare for their presentations. This requires research into their topic using a variety of resources. Preparation outside of class is essential to making a successful presentation.

|
Students should reflect on their performance and ask, what can I do in order to improve next time? This activity is central to learning. Also, once given a task, students must self-direct themselves, effectively managing their time, in order to complete the task on time.

Students who take this course should be open-minded and ready to challenge their own beliefs and skills. Because there are requirements for research, writing and presenting in English, students at a B1 level of CEFR are most suited for this course.
教員が受講生に期待しているのは、先ずはオープン・マインドで自らの価値観やスキルにチャレンジすることが大切です。この授業は英語で書かれたメディアなどを読んだり、その内容を他人に英語で説明する必要がありませので、円滑な活動するにはCEFR B1レベル（中級的なレベル、およそ英検準二級相当）が適しています。
