授業内容と方法
|
NOTICE: Considering the COVID-19 pandemic being far from over, it has been decided that this course will be again given remotely throughout the spring semester to prevent the spread of further infections. Both WebClass and NetAcademy-NEXT will be used as main tools for online lectures as well as the Ryudai Webmail service for communication with individual students. Other external online tools such as Teams, Zoom, Google Classroom, etc. are NOT going to be used in the course.
大事なお知らせ：●コロナ感染拡大が依然改善されない状況にあって、本講座「大学英語09組」におきましては、感染防止のため今学期も引き続き遠隔講義で行うこととします。●本講座で活用予定の主な遠隔講義ツールは、いずれも大学提供のオンラインコース｢WebClass｣と語学学習支援プログラム｢NetAcademy-NEXT(ネットアカデミー・ネクスト)｣の２点です。加えて琉大メールサービス"Webmail"を利用して受講生と個別に連絡が行えるようにします (アクセス先URL等については最下段にまとめて掲載) 。なお、本講座では、Teams, Zoom, Google Classroom等の外部ツールを併用する予定はありません。●第1回目の授業は4月14日木曜日の予定となっております。遠隔講義での出席確認は、WebClassで毎回授業始めに出題されるOpening Questionsに回答する時間でもって受講生の出席・遅刻・欠席等の判断を行います。なお講義時間3分の1(30分)を超える遅刻については、特段の理由が示されない限り欠席扱いとなります。やむを得ない事情で講義に遅刻、参加できなかった場合は、事前事後にかかわらず、躊躇せずすみやかにメールにて連絡をとってください。●授業に関する重要なお知らせは通常、｢既読｣確認のとれるWebClass内で行います。開講期間中は、講師からの連絡をはじめ大学からの諸通知の内容を頻繁にチェックする習慣を身に付けておきましょう。

COURSE CONTENTS
In this class, students are expected to improve FOUR skills of English in various communicative settings. The activities for each skill include the following.
READING: Reading a variety of essays on contemporary issues
LISTENING: Listening to various aural materials of daily conversations
WRITING: Writing short essays in various genres based on on-line search
SPEAKING: Improving speaking knowledge by self-studying at the online learning system (NetAcademy-NEXT)
※Future announcements from Instructor will be primarily written in English throughout the course, and students are strongly encouraged to respond in English.今後、講師からの指示およびメッセージは原則英語のみで行います。受講生のみなさんも、間違いを恐れず英語を書いて使う機会を積極的に増やしていきましょう。

評価基準と評価方法
|
Based on university regulations, grades will be calculated at a maximum of 100 points, and students must accumulate a score of at least 60 points in total to receive credit in the course. Those with a total score of less than 60 points will be graded with an F, 60-69 points a D, 70-79 points a C, 80-89 points a B, and 90 and above an A. Students will be eligible for course credit if they have attended more than two thirds of all class meetings.
The final grade will be based on the following FOUR requirements:
1. Final Exam & Unit Quizzes (期末試験&クイズ50%; evaluation of goals 1, 2 and 3)
2. Composition Assignments (英作文20%; evaluation of goals 3 and 4)
3. Weekly Assignment: NetAcademy-NEXT (週課題:ネットアカデミー･ネクスト20%; evaluation of goals 2 and 4)
4. Responses to Opening Questions / In-class Contribution, etc. (出席確認Q回答＆授業貢献など10%; evaluation of goals 1, 2 and 3)
※重要！上記1.～4.項目の評価対象活動については、すべてに取り組むことが単位認定に必須条件となります。つまり1項目でも0％評価があれば単位認定を行えず「不可」となります。
※第3項目NetAcademy-NEXT週課題について：琉球大学アルクネットアカデミー特設サイトhttp://www.ged.skr.u-ryukyu.ac.jp/flu/anetより学習プログラムに入り「総合英語トレーニング初級コース」➡「リスニング＆スピーキングサブコース」内30ある学習ユニットの中から、毎週１ユニットを選び30～40分の取組みで修了すること。15週継続の自主学習として取り組み、講義終了時に計15ユニット完習で本課題の修了とみなす。本学習プログラムへのログイン方法については上述特設サイトの案内にしたがって行ってください。なお動作環境についてはこちらhttps://www.alc-education.co.jp/academic/nanext/system.htmlで確認し、お手持ち端末の状態を把握し、必要な学習環境を整えておきましょう。NetAcademy-NEXTについて技術的なサポートが必要な方は、英語学習アドバイザー（E-Mail: alc-rits@lab.u-ryukyu.ac.jp）に支援を仰いでください(問い合わせメールには必ずフルネーム、学籍番号、学部、学科、年次を記載するようにとのことです) 。

(1) New words and phrases must be checked before class. Avoid attending class with no knowledge about what you are supposed to cover for the day of the session.
(2) Writing activities must be prepared according to instructions in class.
(3) One unit from "Listening & Speaking Course" of NetAcademy-NEXT should be completed every week.

事後学習
|
(1) Always try to read a textbook passage out loud after you learn it in class. In addition, practice reading what you have written for writing assignments. Make it a habit to read certain amount of English every day!
(2) Find time to review and deepen discussion taken place at the WebClass group forums.
(3) Carefully review a unit quiz each time you receive its result and work on the stuff you don't do well. Questions that are answered incorrectly by more students are highly likely to be asked again in the final exam!

・開講初日4月14日(木曜日)は、遠隔講義について重要な連絡とシラバス内容の確認を行います。正当な理由なく欠席することがないようにします。当日は始業時間に合わせてWebClassにて待機し、講師からのOpening Questionに備えておきましょう。
・本講座で使用する教科書は全受講生必携です。登録調整期間終了(4月25日月)までには、確実に入手しておきましょう。
・WebClassでの講義資料配布及び学習活動参加については、授業終了後一定期間を過ぎるとアクセスが制限され閲覧ができなくなることがありますので、その都度各自の責任において管理活用してください。欠席又は遅刻で資料が受け取れなかった場合は、遠慮せずすみやかに申し出て確実に入手できるようにしてください。
・クイズ、試験については、原則として追試験は行いません。やむを得ずクイズ等を逃した場合は、ためらわずその旨講師とすみやかに協議すること。
・各種提出物に関しては締め切り厳守が、のぞましい評価を得るための大事なポイントとなります。
・進捗状況および受講生の理解度等により、授業計画を変更することがあるので、講師からの指示連絡に常に注意を払ってください。
※冒頭でも触れたように、オンライン講義期間中は講師からの発信は原則英語のみの筆談となります。もちろん学生の日本語によるメッセージは歓迎しますが、それらに対しても基本英語で返すことを承知おきください。この機会に、受講生のみなさんが日常的に英語の使用になれることを期待しています。間違いを恐れず英語でのコミュニケーションに積極的に挑戦しましょう！
★Active involvement in class activities is strongly encouraged. Don't be afraid of using English in class. No one is perfect when it comes to speaking another language.
Making mistakes is not losing face but gaining an opportunity to improve. Ninety-nine percent of my English owes to numerous accounts of trial and error. I still do make mistakes and I'm happy with that.
