評価基準と評価方法
The term grade will be awarded on the basis of attendance, participation, completion of assignments, and observable improvement in students’ English communication skills as demonstrated through class activities throughout the course.
Students’ grades will be calculated in the following manner:
30% Material contributions
50% Class activities (e.g., presentations, conversations, discussions, etc.)
20% Portfolio of material contributions and discussion reports

Attendance is a basic requirement. Based on university regulations, students who miss 1/3 of the class (5 absences), cannot get the credits for the course. In order to get a high grade for the class, students must attend class regularly, participate actively, and use English in class.

Active participation in class activities is dependent on preparation, i.e., timely completion of the homework assignments. If you do not do the assigned work / preparation, you will not be able to participate effectively or even at all.

Since your use of Japanese will likely to hinder your classmates’ effort to practice using English, points will be deducted for unnecessary Japanese use or without permission.

Based on university regulations, grades will be calculated at a maximum of 100 points, and students must accumulate at least 60 points to pass the course. Those with a total score of less than 60 points and/or with 10 or more absences will fail the class.
• A = 90% and above
• B = 80-89%
• C = 70-79%
• D = 60-69%
• F = 59% or below (failing grade)
